Facade Inspection - Bill 122

Facade Inspection

Building facades are the most exposed to harsh elements and affected by severe weather causing them to deteriorate. The crumbling of concrete cladding and collapsing of cracked exterior brick walls may endanger the safety of the public. That is why since 2013 the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) Safety Code Bill 122 came into effect requiring that rigorous and periodic façade inspections of 5-storey high-rise buildings facades be carried out.

The purpose of a façade inspection is to identify any visible surface defects or anomalies and advise if unsafe conditions are present that may threaten safety or lead to the development of dangerous situations.
